music

music at st. james

Music at St. James enriches our community worship through energetic congregational song, inspiring musical offerings by our choirs, choral lead/soloists, parishioners, guest musicians and music minister.

Our music program also offers opportunities for personal musical growth and deeper community engagement through participation as a chorister in any of our choirs.

Congregational song is at the core of our worship at St. James, where we join each other to lift our hearts and voices in praise to God. St. James is known for its energetic, up-tempo congregational singing, which inspires and uplifts. We sing traditional and familiar hymns from Voices United, but are also exploring new texts and/or tunes from Voices United, More Voices and other sources of contemporary hymnody.

choirs

St. James has a long history of choral excellence for all ages, and this excellence continues today. The choirs offer opportunities to grow musically, to build community with a group of like-minded singers, and to help lead in worship.

Solid sight-reading skills and the ability to blend while leading the section are expected. Position open until filled. During the time of coronavirus, responsibilities will be fulfilled virtually, as determined by safety considerations and public health guidelines.
