st. james sunday school
Starting in fall 2021, our Sunday School meets in-person on alternate Sundays, with on-line sessions every other week. This is to accommodate the comfort levels of all families during COVID times.
Our workshop rotation approach to Sunday School ensures that students are engaged in exciting and interactive experiences as they learn about themselves and others, while developing a strong spiritual foundation. We meet in a large group each Sunday, then split into smaller age groups to participate in workshops that take place over the course of several weeks. Workshops include the computer lab, games, art, drama, science, and cooking (a “fan favourite!”).
St. James United Church offers different activities and games to keep our children engaged!
Through art, cooking, and crafts students will enhance their creativity and reinforce their understanding of important Christian teachings.
Our variety of fun and interactive programs will help the students remember Bible stories in a meaningful way.
Students participate in skits, mini-dramas, tableaus, or they may watch a movie (with popcorn) to interact with each other and the Bible lessons they are learning.
Students make connections as they participate in a variety of interactive games based on the Bible stories we are currently learning.
Children from birth to age three have a special place at St. James. Parents are welcome to keep their babies with them in the sanctuary during the Sunday worship service. They may also choose to attend the service while their infants and toddlers go to the nursery. We have a safe space with a trained nursery attendant and volunteer(s) present from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
