Christian Meditation

The purpose of meditation is to learn to live our lives as fully as possible in the presence of God.  Through meditation we come to our centre, to the foundation of our being and remain there – still, silent and attentive.

The Christian Meditation group meets at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays from September to June in the St. James Well-Being Place.  We open with prayer, listen to a taped 15 minute talk by John Main, a Benedictine monk who rediscovered the ancient tradition of Christian Meditation, and meditate for 20 minutes. We conclude with prayer and are on our way renewed and refreshed before 11:00 a.m.

Interested people are always welcome to join and share with us this method of enriching one’s spiritual life.

The Christian Meditation Group follows the techniques of the World Community for Christian Meditation founded by John Main.  The current director of the World group is Father Laurence Freeman, a Benedictine monk.  Click on the video below where Father Laurence takes us through a basic introduction to meditation as practiced by the group.
