Serving Others

Marjorie’s Chorus under the direction of Marjorie Taft and Carolyn Gill, sing old-time favourite secular and sacred music at various senior’s residences in the community. Up to 60 people from the church and community participate in this enjoyable program. Practices are weekly on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. September through June.

The Seniors’ Luncheon is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month and a hot lunch is served. There is always lively conversation and participants enjoy good homemade food and good companionship. A half hour program follows lunch. New folks are always welcome. The cost is $4.00. Call Pat at 905-625-8605 to advise if you are coming and to arrange a ride if necessary.

The St. James Garden Club The Garden Club continues to offer the congregation and community beautiful lawns and garden. A few of the outstanding features of the landscape have been the gorgeous display or roses, particularly in the courtyard; the creation of a new garden bed on the west side of the driveway in memory of a devoted garden member, Don Jacobs; the improved appearance of the various garden beds in the parking lot; a new cross in front of the church constructed by George Switzwer; and the patio in the courtyard designed by Myron Boyko and built by Art and son Peter Freeman.

Tray Favours  also known as "Glue, Giggle and Gab" meet every Tuesday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. from September to mid-June to make seasonal favours.  These add some cheer to the meal trays of the residents at Tyndale Nursing Home in Mississauga, at Wesburn Manor and The Westbury on The West Mall and at Highbourne Lodge on The East Mall in Etobicoke.  While sharing conversation and a bag lunch, they cut, glue and decorate nearly 300 tray favours for Hallowe'en, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Valentines Day and Easter.  Dorothy Mitchell, the current coordinator of this caring ministry is pictured at the left holding a tray of some of the designs the group make.  All are welcome to join us any Tuesday.
